We survived March Break, Spring has sprung (sort of), and lots is happening! If you want these updates right to your inbox subscribe at the bottom of the page.

Wednesday March 25th – 4pm Environment, Transportation and Public Safety Committee; immediately followed by Transit Board.
Three items on the Agenda:
- Report on converting 1-way streets to 2-way streets across Wards 3 and 4.
- There has been some media on this and I’ll likely leave this to the Ward councillor to engage. In principal best practice says remove the street, but the overwhelming negative response from residents speaks loudly.
- A report on additional garbage pick-up in Strengthening the Core. I think it is interesting and deserve watching as part of the initiative to potentially scale to other BIAs in the future.
- The Third item is an EV Charging Policy.
- This is complicated and something I am still considering.
- There is a single item (besides adopting the minutes from the last meeting) on the Agenda – the 2025 end of year report on Transit Windsor.
Playground Replacement Consultations
- In my last post I talked about the playgrounds that are going to get replaced across the City including 6: Crowley Park, Maurice Belanger Park, Curry Playlot, North Merritt Park, Paterson Park and Straith Park. The consultation survey should be launching in the next week or so, keep an eye out for it on social media and maybe another post over Easter!
This coming weekend March 28th is a big day
- Downtown Windsor Farmers Market is Back Saturday Morning!
- Neighbourhood Clean up in St Joseph Neighbourhood 12pm-2pm
- Festival du Nain Rouge this Saturday, 1-6 pm in Mill Park
There are a few items that jump out at me. I haven’t yet read through this 597 page agenda yet but based on the table of contents and a first pass, a couple of things have caught my attention.
- 7.7 and 8.2 both are AI related reports that have peaked my interest in a few different ways.
- 8.1 is a noise by-law waiver as this spring/summer Huron Church Road will see some construction which will run potentially overnight, evenings and weekends hence the waiver of the noise by-law. To be honest this will be most impactful for folks on Northwood and Daytona as most of the Ward 2 areas are commercial or industrial. This will disrupt traffic flow up and down Huron Church Rd. once work gets started over the coming months.

- 7.6 is an update on the Arts, Culture and Heritage Fund 2026 Round 1 of funding. A range of events and projects were funded including several West Windsor Events.
- The jury also came back with some recommendations for Council considerations a number of impacting the fund. This included increasing the maximum funding amount per request from $5,000 to $7,500; allowing recurring applications and increasing the overall size of the pot of funding to name a few. I would support this and the other changes.
- 11.1 – Sandwich South Development Capital Works, Financing Strategy (C 26/2026).
April 12 Trash Mob – second community clean up at Gateway Park
There are other community clean ups being planned I will share them when they are confirmed.
Office Hours
April 18th – John Muir Library – Noon to 2pm (upstairs); April 20th – Bridgeview Library 5pm-7pm (room to the right of the main entrance)
Posters/adverts will happen after Easter! After May 1st, Office Hours will be paused as the election rules does not allow use of City spaces for events without a campaign paying for it. To continue it will require the campaign to be up and running and renting the space during the election period.
April Community Calendar
I am compiling my community calendar for April, if you have any items or events, please share it! Ping me on Facebook or email me.
2026 Elections
As of May 1st, people can start registering as candidates for the municipal election. If you are thinking of running in the election this year – even in Ward 2 – Essex County is hosting a presentation by the Ministry of Municipal Affairs about being a candidate. You can find more information here.
Thank you Frasier. Has there been any discussion on street parking? I’m talking about where people have driveways.
Hi Sue,
You will need to be a bit more specific. There is lot of discussion of Parking at various levels happening. What kind of discussions?
